Lycian Way, Pamukkale, Ephesus & Turkish Delights
The Lycian area in the Southwest corner of Turkey is a truly unique place on the planet. Natural and ancient wonders are scattered across the land. Home to the ancient Lycian civilization who built amazing and very unique tombs carved into the side of rock cliffs all over the place such as Amyntas, Tlos, and Myra amongst many others. The Romans and Greeks also inhabited this land building absolute architectural master piece’s all over the Westcoast of Turkey such as the Theater at Pamukkale and Ephesus. This area is also home to truly amazing natural wonders such as Butterfly Valley, a valley that can only be accessed from the sea and is home to thousands of butterflies some of which can not be found anywhere else, the famous Blue Lagoon with its beautiful crystal clear water and Pammukale’s natural “cotton castle” which should absolutely be on anyone’s bucket list. Day 1
Fly into Dalamon. Airport pick-up take to Hotel.
Day 2
Ancient Lycian sites, Amyntas Tomb, Myra and Xanthos.
You will get to spend the day visiting the truly unique and incredible ancient Lycian sites of Amyntas tomb, Myra, and Xanthos built between 3000 and 2600 years ago and carved into the side of rock cliffs, these are remarkable ancient Lycian sites that show the engineering genius of the ancient people who once lived in Southwest Turkey.
Day 3
Butterfly Valley, Blue Lagoon, Oludeniz Beach
After going on excursions to historical wonders of the Lycians the day before we wil travel to the natural wonder of Butterfly Valley. Only accessible by boat Butterfly Valley is a special place with incredible natural beauty and dozens of types of butterflies all over the place some of which can only be found here.
After spending part of the day in Butterfly valley spend the rest of the day enjoying the famous Oludenize Beach and Blue Lagoon. With its crystal clear waters and remarkable beaches you may stay as along as you like in this incredible place. You get to decide when you want a ride back to your hotel.
Day 4
Ancient city of Tlos, Saklikant National Park or white water rafting
Day 4 includes a trip to Tlos the once important Lycian site that then became an important center for the Romans. Spend time experiencing Lycian and Roman Monuments with a great panoramic view the entire surrounding area.
After visiting the ancient hill top center of Tlos,l choose your adventure by either going on an excursion to Saklikant National Park and explore incredible canyons or spend the day on the river and enjoy some White water rafting in a beautiful setting.
Day 5
Pamukkale, Travertines, Heirapolis, ancient baths.
Pamukkale is a truly unique place that has both natural and historical wonders.
Here you can walk on the travertines which was created by calcium deposits that bubbled up from thermal activity, cascaded down the hillside and hardened.
You will also get to experience architectural masterpiece from the ancient world in the Roman built hierapolis theater. After this you will have the opportunity to bathe in ancient baths that were built by the ancient kingdom of Pergamon and still in use today for you to enjoy.
Day 6
Kaklik Cave or hot air balloon for additional cost.
After an incredible day in Pamukkale either take a trip to Kaklik Cave to see another natural wonder or partake in a hot air balloon ride over Pamukkale and enjoy and incredible view the surrounding area
Day 7
Visit Ephesus
One of many highlights of this tour we will visit the ancient city of Ephesus. Ephesus is one of most well preserved and incredible archaeology sites in the world. Here you will get walk on roads as people did thousands of years ago. founded in the 10th century BC and later occupied by the Romans in the 2nd century BC, this ancient city is filled with history.
Day 8
Travel back to Feythie, BBQ
After spending the last week experiencing natural and historical wonders we will end the tour with BBQ in a great location where you can eat and drink as much as you like.
Day 9 (optional Free day)
After every tour we like to go hiking on the Lycian way trail. If you still have enough energy we invite anyone on the tour to go hiking with us on the Lycian way trail.
